A collection of blue and white Lowestoft porcelain tea wares, A collection of blue and white Lowestoft porcelain tea wares, mid to late 18th century, comprising a moulded sauce boat or cream jug, depicting a Chinese fishing scene, with painter's numeral mark 6, 10.5cm long, a 'Lady and Squirrel' pattern tea bowl, 7.5cm diameter, a moulded tea bowl, with floral decoration and painted pseudo Meissen mark, 7.5cm diameter, a 'Fence and Garden' pattern teacup, painted pseudo Worcester mark, 6.5cm high, another similar example with a paper label inscribed 'Lowestoft Certified by Hobson of the British Museum', 6cm high, a 'Mansfield' pattern teacup, 5.5cm high, and a teacup depicting a house on a hill, 6.5cm high (7) Literature: The paper label refers to Robert Lockhart Hobson (1872-1941), who worked at the British Museum as Keeper of Ceramics and Ethnography from 1921, and later Keeper of Oriental Antiquities and Ethnography from 1934-38. Condition Report: Sauce boat) Restoration around the base of the handle. 'Lady and Squirrel') No obvious chips or nibbles. Moulded tea bowl) Minor nibble to the rim and around the base. 'Fence and Garden') No obvious chips or nibbles. Hobson teacup) The paper label is worn but dated Feb 28 190? 'Mansfield') Crack to the base and rim. House on hill) Nibbles to the base.
