Description
A weathered carved or cut stone garden sculpture of a classical lady, late 19th century - possibly limestone as evidenced by tiny seashells appearing in the composition - there are no mold marks. Near live size and measures 21"W x 12"D x 49"H - the rectangular base measures 14"W x 12"D. Condition: Very hard to determine chips as it has been weathered for such a long time and any defect may be smoothed out over time - however, it appears there are 2 small chips along the edge of her lower gown, and possible a loss to the top of the bouquet of flowers she is holding - no cracks or repairs are visible and overall very good condition considering it's age. Note also that there are many years of weathering and lichen growth, making it difficult to identify the medium. Provenance: Found in the garden of Redding CT estate.
