A Chinese famille rose snuff bottle
19th century
With two figures to each side; four-character mark to underside.
H: 2 in.
(H: 5.08 cm.)
Provenance: Private collection, Cleveland, Ohio. The items in the collection were acquired starting in the 1970s from auction houses including Christie’s, Sotheby’s, and Bonhams, as well as from various private collections in the United States. Works from this collection were offered in Oakridge Auction Gallery’s December 2, 2021 sale titled “Appreciating Extravagance: Chinese Artwork from an Important Collection in Ohio.”
Condition: There are two chips and a crack to the foot. Hairline and firing defect to underside. Glaze skip to lower region of body. Wear commensurate with age and use, including areas of residue throughout.
