Description
French Provincial Carved Oak Cabinetmaker's Work Bench, 19th c., the rectangular top with an iron vise on one long side, on large block legs, joined by stretchers, H.- 31 3/4 in., W.- 78 1/2 in., D.- 19 in. Provenance: Karla Katz Antiques, Magazine St., New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
The legs have been replaced with a vintage repair. This is a very sturdy/heavy duty piece and the top is made up of two wide planks and one thinner plank. There is heavy, albeit normal, wear to the top including scattered stray paint, gouges where a hand saw may have been used, and other stains along the top. Parts of the iron clamp are still present. This is a good example.
