Description
Four pieces of historical blue. Three pieces with scene “Landing of General Lafayette at Castle Garden New York, 16 August 1824”. Stamped on base Staffordshire, Clews, Warranted. Made by James and Ralph Clews, England, ca. 1825-1830. Including two creamers 5”H x 5.5”W and 5.5”H x 5.5”W, with a lidded sugar 6.5”H x 5.5”W x 4”D. A waste bowl, with scene “Commodore MacDonough’s Victory” depicting his 1814 victory over the British at Lake Champlain, Vermont, 3”H x 5.25” dia..
Condition
red residue to lip of one creamer, other creamer with chip to spout and glaze loss at spout lip, glaze loss at shoulder. Lid of sugar restored/with repairs. Ring handle on side of sugar with glaze loss.
