TEXTILE: Pieced calico quilt, c. 1840-1860, with red 8-pointed stars within red and green squares with lily-like corners, these blocks alternate with plain white squares, plain muslin backing, back-to-front edge finish, quilting in a sunflower design in plain blocks, chevrons in other blocks, white quilting thread at six stitches to the inch, stenciled on the back in one corner: "M. G. Burtis", also handwritten on a scrap of muslin, basted near the stencil, "For Brade.", from Burlington County, NJ, very good condition: scattered small brown spots; moisture stain on one corner, 91" x 89 ½".
