TEXTILE: Mosaic-pattern pieced silk quilt, c. 1860-1880, made with mostly solid-colored silks in purple, green, brown, pink, blue, cream solid colors, and a few small woven checks and other woven patterns, brown glazed cotton backing; brown silk tape binding, machine-stitched, the colors of some of the fabrics (esp. purple and blue) are made with synthetic dyes, indicating a date later than 1856, quilting follows the pieced pattern in brown thread, good condition: a few damaged silks, especially the black and white check, 77" L x 52" W.
