Oscar Wilde's copy with his signature on title page dated "Michaelmas 1873", his final year at Trinity College, Dublin. A fitting book to have been in Wilde's collection, C.S. Calverley (1831-1884) was a fellow at Christ's College, Cambridge and a wit best-remembered for his odes to beer and smokes. ;Additional provenance: ;Daniel Henry Holmes (1851-1908), retail heir and poet of Covington, KY, and New Orleans (bookplate on case dated December 1906 in manuscript); Carlos Sanz de Santamaria (1905-1992), Ambassador of Colombia to the US and Representative to the UN (bookplate on front free endpaper).
Condition
Rubbing to box at extremities, mild sunning; volume shows slight bumps at spine ends, light rubbing with a few minor stains and with light soiling; binding shaken with internal cracks; very good.
