PROVENANCE:
From the Collections of Henry Windermere (1932- 2018) Covington, Georgia, served US Army for more than 28 years, retiring as a colonel. His received many military medals. He then became Westminster Services training coordinator and working as a program director for a defense contractor based in Xianggang China. Among his varied interests and passions were collecting Chinese art pieces.

Chinese Qing Dynasty Period Gilt Bronze Three Buddhas Sakyamuni. Buddha Sakyamuni is revered as the founder of the world religion of Buddhism, and worshipped by most Buddhist schools as the Enlightened One who has transcended Karma and escaped the cycle of birth and rebirth. In this Buddha statue, Sakyamuni sits in "Calling The Earth to Witness" posture seated upon a moon disc and double lotus throne with a dignified face. The nose and eyebrows are connected with lines, the eyelids hang low. This sculpture appears to be the perfect example, by any artistic tradition, both for technical precision and exquisite form. The proportions of the body are exact and the overall presence and beauty make this sculpture a precious artistic treasure. Underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi.

Condition
Over all in EXCELLENT condition. With normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dents. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. Normal, consider ages and wear.
