ARTIST BIO
More than a legend, a myth. Street art dinosaur from New York Cope2 is a global celebrity. Graffiti artists from around the world regularly arrive at JFK Airport to paint together with the master.
Despite his strong reputation, this child of the South Bronx never forgot where he was born. Coming from the most dangerous neighbourhoods of NYC, Cope2 has been claiming for more than thirty years his inflexible integrity of street artist. Inexhaustible surveyor-sprayer of the labyrinths of urbanism, he remains the emblem par excellence of the protest graffiti.
Like when he decided to go on a crusade against the operation “clean city” of the Mayor of New York City in the 1990s. His continuous spray paintings were right about the populist inclinations of the over-coatings by the local police. His peers agree to recognise him. Without Cope2, the graffiti art would not probably not be quoted today in Manhattan and its suburbs.
While drawing without sketch he was quickly remarked by the talent scouts. His works take part in the most beautiful collections of both hemispheres and the big capital is interested in his case. Time Life, Converse, Adidas and Footlocker appeal to his genius to boost their merchandise. Ditto for the video game and film industries.
He feel really comfortable on the street.
A pure legend.
