Description
A signed Yoshikoni shinto period wakizashi blade (Keicho 1596). Accompanied by an unsigned wakizashi blade, a damaged figural cast tsuba (gaurd) depicting a man and a horse, a metal tsuba (gaurd), a red lacquered wakizashi saya (scabbard), a black lacquered samurai sword saya (scabbard), a tsuka (handle), (2) damaged habaki (collars), damaged seppa (washer), and a damaged a tsuka (handle). From a Westchester, NY estate. Dimensions: Eto period wakizashi blade measures approx. 24" in length.
Condition
Swords exhibits wear consistent with age. Blades exhibit chips and scratches. Blades were improperly sharpened. Handles are not matching. AItos (wraps) exhibit breaks. Lacquered saya's exhibit chips, losses, staining, discoloration and cracks. Red saya exhibits an old tape repair.
Black saya is to long for either blade. Habaki (blade collars) are damaged. Red saya is missing kojiri (scabbard tip).
