Description
273. (Manuscript). Interesting ledger in two hands. The first part, ( pp.1-124) was written from 1874-1887 (p.3b is dated 1875) . It is written in Yiddish apparently by the manager of a musical band and Chazanim (cantors) who performed at weddings and theaters in various cities e.g. Dombrowicz, .Krushnievitz, Ostrow, Kutna etc. Each page is divided in two columns indicating the amount paid, money remaining, names of people, dates and places of weddings and theaters. Useful for a history of families and events in these cities. Second part written in a different hand in Yiddish lists dates of birth and deaths of the writer's children from 1899 to 1921 (See pp.190 and 216-222). Mentions town of Shedlitz on p. 216. The pages of the final section (p. 225-275) are headed by various names e.g. Moshe David, Shimon, Alter etc. showing various expenses. They are crossed out, probably indicating payment. Previous owner's name and town on verso of the front cover - Piekarsky Juzef, Gostawicach.
