The moulded marble top above two short and two long drawers with quarter veneering and inlaid with shaped quarter veneered tablets, with similar sides, over a shaped apron, on splayed sabot mounted feet, restorations to the marble top, 131cm wide x 65cm deep x 82cm high, (51 1/2in wide x 25 1/2in deep x 32in high)

This is a French commode of regional origin that most likely dates to the third quarter of 18th century.
Several old repaired splits and one patched area of repair to the marble top.
Because of these old repairs a shallow wooden rectangular underframe has been mounted to the underside of the marble strengthening it sufficiently for the purpose of regular use and movement.
Shrinkage splits to the ends.
Some surface repairs commensurate with age.
Signs of old worm.
1 lock missing.
Evidence of some shrinkage and movement to the veneers consistent with age.
Minor loss to one segment of the chamferred drawer edging to the bottom drawer.
The feet have been tipped or extended in height by approximately 2cm.
The gilding has rubbed on the mounts making them look more brassy in appearance.
In fairly good decorative and ready to use order.
