Description
Wonderful modernist centerpiece bowl is Steinbock Enamelware. Mid century appears hand hammered with a beautiful green enamel in the basin. Well marked on the bottom. Measures approx 11.5 across x 2 tall.
Steinbock was founded in the 1950s by students of the Academy of Art in Vienna, brothers Hannes and Haino Steinbock. Factory was a well known tourist stop and was known world wide. During the 1980s, tourism dropped off due to threats of terrorism. Sons and a former employee tried to keep the business going until it closed in 1993 after 45 of operation.
