Description

Ca. 1800. Mixed woods, continuous arm brace back, bold turnings and saddle seat. Worn green paint over red. Wear and age splits. 17" seat, 35.5"h. Ex Isabel Pool, Blue Candlestick Antiques (Saratoga, California).

Condition

At least two layers of green paint. Split in top crest at center post. Both arms have repairs at bend, feet ended out, pieced repair on one stretcher joint. One leg has been whittled to fit into seat but looks to have good age. Legs have some splits with glued and tacked repairs. Interesting diamond insets on seat where the legs are inserted. One missing, some edge chips. Back wiggles slightly but overall sturdy. Space between arm posts 12.5”.
