Edward Penfield (1866-1925) was an influential American illustrator, and Harper's art director, and designed a poster each month between 1894 and 1899. He introduced the art poster to Americans after the French had popularized advertising posters as the "art of the people" in the streets of Paris. Lovely illustration a snow shoer, illustration for the story that appeared in Harper's by Caspar W. Whitney.
