The Twins for the May 1894 issue of The Chap-Book is considered the first American Art Nouveau poster. The Chap-Book was a magazine published in Chicago from 1894-1898, dedicated to "all that is most modern and aggressive in the Young Man's literature," and introduced little known writers and poets of the era, such as Yeats, Henry James, Ibsen, H.G. Wells, and Rimbaud. Will H. Bradley (1868-1962) was an American illustrator who imported European and Japanese styles for use in American magazines.
