Description
Oil on wood panel landscape showing a brook wandering through a green meadow with trees, hills and dwelling, by Edward Parker Hayden. Hayden was born in a town his family had founded, Haydenville, Ohio, and moved to New York City, where he studied under William Lamb Picknell. He moved to the Berkshires in Massachusetts, where he was influenced by other landscape artists including Hugh Bolton Jones. His works were exhibited at the National Academy, the Boston Art Club, the Philadelphia Art Club, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Society of American Artists. A major retrospective was held at the Columbus Ohio Museum of Art in 1942. Signed lower left. Panel is loose in frame.
