Portrait in pastels of a young African American boy. Signed and dated: Henshaw, 1913. Glenn Cooper Henshaw (1880-1946) was born in Indiana, studied in Indianapolis, Germany and Paris, and opened studios in Indianapolis and New York. His work has been exhibited at the Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Addison Gallery of American Art, of the Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts, the Corcoran Gallery, the Brooklyn Museum, and elsewhere. Frame, approx. 22 1/2" x 18 1/2". Sight, approx. 15 1/4" x 11 1/2". Provenance: The collection of Mark Smith of Amherst, Virginia.
