Rare print with works by the medieval French philosopher, theologian, and political writer Johannes von Jandun (1285-1328), who found refuge with Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian after a conflict with the church. "His works attracted particular attention in Italy up to the 16th century, but were also sharply criticized during his lifetime, because J., as a representative of radical Aristotelianism, solved all problems without considering faith and ecclesiastical theology [...] and thus opposed the teachings of the Church. " John of Jandun or John of Jaudun is best known for his outspoken defense of Aristotelianism and his influence in the early Latin Averroist movement.
Very good condition, some foxing, title page with period handwriting. Ownership notices and marginalia.
