Description
This is a seldom seen, large, highly decorative celestial map. The map includes maps of the Northern and Southern Skies. A diagram in the upper right and lower left corners show the monthly orbit and illumination of the moon. The upper left represents day and night on the earth with quotations from Genesis. The three central diagrams along the bottom represent the different planetary hypotheses of Tycho Brahe, Corpernicus, Ptolemy, and the lower right shows the annual orbit of the sun and the seasons. This map is by M Rein as his name is on the map near the bottom. There are similar celestial maps by his contemporary, Seutter.
