Description
1875, USA: Standing at 7' (214cm) tall, this magnificent carved cigar store Indian was on display for years in the Tobacco Museum at Groningen, Netherlands. Attributed to Thomas Brooks and believed to be carved in 1875, the carving can be seen in a book written by George Alfred Brongers (Van Gouwenaar Tot Bruyere Pijp) on Bruyere Pipes. Carved with a very unique style, this cigar Indian has a large pipe, full headdress and colorful painted motif, quite possibly restored at one time. CONSIDERATIONS: Showing stress and age cracks, primarily to the back. Not mounted on the often seen "Cigars" base, he stands 7' from toe to the top of the headdress. An impressive carving, to say the least. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 26" x 32" x 84".
