DEGUÉ vase for Cristallerie de COMPIEGNE (1926-1939), ca.1926.
Blown glass.
Signed on the side, lower part.
Procedure: Private Collection, Spain between 1970-1990.
Measurements: 30 cm (height) x 15 cm (largest diameter).
Blown glass vase, with decorative bubbles on its oval body, creating an attractive play of translucent membranes. Handles and decorations in cobalt blue. It belongs to the distinguished Parisian firm Degué, founded by David Guéron, a glass artist and industrialist of Turkish origin. He ran the Verrerie d'Art Degué on Boulevard Malesherbes, Paris, from 1926 to 1939. In the early 1920s he produced such works in Compiègne glass, introducing the gradual influence of Art Deco into his designs. The Second World War put an end to his activity as an artistic glassmaker, and Guéron left France for the United States in 1939, during the war period.
