19TH C. HAND-PAINTED EPSOM DERBY FRAMED SILK SCARF
19th century hand-painted Epsom Derby, (of Surrey, England), framed silk scarf, commemorating the winner of the 1887 race -- Merry Hampton. Details include:
- Text in center:
- Merry Hampton, By Hampton - Doll Tearsheet, Winner of the Derby, Trained by Gurry, 1887, Ridden by Watts, The Property of Mr. Abington
- Surrounding the central design are small decorative vignettes with information about the previous winners from 1780 to 1886.
- Framed under acrylic in a black wooden frame.
Dimensions:
Viewable - 32.5 x 31"
Framed - 42.5 x 41.5"
Condition
Tears present to fabric, and overall wear to ink. Acrylic exhibits cracks near the frame.
