Indo-Persian manuscript page, mid-20th century, executed in ink and gouache on paper, depicting a nobleman on horseback with servants and having text above an below, with no apparent signature, framed. Provenance: From the Estate of Marilyn "Mickey" Bord, New York, NY. A native New Yorker, Bord formed a deep personal and professional relationship with famed dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey. Mickey dyed and sewed costumes for the Alvin Ailey Dance Company and eventually served as archivist. Ailey's foundational interest in the African American cultural experience informed the art collection that he assisted Marilyn in acquiring, much of which is offered in this auction. Not examined out of frame. Toning to paper, (2-3) spots of foxing, creases at the top of the paper, water damage along the bottom left of the mat, h. 1", w. 5".
