Description
Nine mostly Chinese Imari palette plates and bowls, late 18th and early 19th centuries, comprising (4) soup bowls centering vases of flowers, (1) shallow bowl with Buddhist Treasures, (1) octagonal plate with flowers in a landscape, (1) plate with floral sprays, and (2) clobbered plates centering landscapes, none with apparent marks. Provenance: From an estate in Ponte Vedra, FL; pair of plates and set of 4 plates acquired June 2, 1984 from Galerie Fischer, Luzern Switzerland. Largest approx. dia. 9.75".
Condition
Two clobbered plates: plate 1 having (2) fleabites at the rim. Plate 2 having (4) 1/16" chips to foot rim. Four bowls: Bowl A: (1) half moon hairline on foot, (2) fleabites, (4) 1/8" chips, and (1) 1/4" chip all under the rim. B: having (1) 1" hairline and (3) fleabites under the rim; C: (2) hairlines, a 3" under the rim and a 2" underneath, with (6) fleabites, (1) 1/2" chip and (4) 1/8" chips all under the rim. D: (1) 2.5" hairline, 4) fleabites, and a 2" previous repair at the rim.
