Eddie Rickenbacker, WWI Ace, Signed Photograph
Measuring 5" x 7", New York, dated 1959. A black and white image of an older Eddie Rickenbacker, seated at a desk wearing a 3-piece suit. Signed at the top margin in blue ink, "Capt Eddie Rickenbacker 1959." Stamped on verso by the studio "Photograph By Budd." With creasing at the corners and lower right edge. Slightly rolled. Bumped corners. Worn and lightly toned edges. Boldly signed.
Edward V. Rickenbacker (1890-1973) was an American fighter pilot ace during the First World War and was the most successful ace of the war, with 26 total victories. In 1931, he was awarded a Medal of Honor for his service by President Herbert Hoover. He also was an avid race car driver and later became a military government consultant during WWII.
