DS 1962 of the landmark Baker v. Carr case which reached the Supreme Court signed by Justice William J. Brennan at the conclusion. 8.25" x 11". A few pencil notations in an unknown hand, else fine.
Baker v. Carr, 369 U.S. 186, was a landmark United States Supreme Court case in which the Court held that redistricting qualifies as a justiciable question under the Fourteenth Amendment, thus enabling federal courts to hear Fourteenth Amendment-based redistricting cases. In a 6-2 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the state of Tennessee was in violation of Constitutional law. Justice Brennan delivered the opinion of the court.
William Joseph Brennan Jr. (1906 – 1997) was an American lawyer and jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1956 to 1990.
