3rd millennium B.C. A group of four stone cylinder seals comprising two jasper, one limestone, and one calcite; one accompanied by a museum-quality impression and typed and signed scholarly note issued by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Cylinder Seal of Soft White Stone 27 x 15 mm. The design shows a two [sic] standing figures, one in longer clothing than the other, and a larger woman straddling over a lying man in the act of coitus. This is worn and is a rare seal for its design, dating to the Akkadian period, or a little later, c.2400-2100 B.C.'; one black stone with zig-zag geometric pattern; one white stone with opposing birds with splayed legs (?); and a black stone cylinder seal with three standing figures. 17 grams total, 17-28 mm (3/4 - 1 in.). Acquired in the late 1980s-early 1990s. Signo collection, property of a West London businessman. Item number 49-B (64), Y-526, Y-972, W-80; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
