Volume I (all published). Unbound in the original parts, which are loose in a folder made from the original cloth covers. A very uncommon presentation, rare thus. xix, 655 pp. Extensively illustrated with engravings in wood and steel, 7 maps (some folding) including one large folding map at rear, a chromolithograph of Frémont's Rocky Mountain flag, etc. Frontispiece portrait with tissue-guard. 27x19.5 cm (10½x7½"), original brown cloth, decorated in gilt, silver, black and red, lettered in gilt. First Edition.

A very rare issue in the original parts, which were published over time as the chapters were completed (helpful in maintaining cash flow for the publishers), each part in its original wrappers. We have never seen a copy in the original parts before. Largely uncut and unopened, including the large folding map at the end of Part 2. Memoirs of the great Pathfinder (or Pathmarker), based on his original accounts of his adventures in the west. The illustrations and maps are quite noteworthy. Slight rubbing and scuffing to cloth; toned wrappers chipped and torn along edges where exposed, occasional faint soiling and foxing; very good.
