Description
DESCRIPTION: Meissen porcelain grouping from the model by J.J. Kändler inspired by an engraving after a drawing by François Boucher depicting a youth wearing a flowered robe with a gourd flask tied to his waste, leaning against a tree stump, and playing bagpipes for a dog and a recumbent lamb. Figures populate a mound base applied with applied floral and foliage designs. Marked on underside with blue crossed swords hallmark, dark blue "46, and incised "14". Similar piece sold at Christie's 4/19/2007. Provenance: Collection of Martin and Helene Schwalberg, owners of The Meissen Shop founded on June 23, 1978 on Worth Ave. in Palm Beach and closed in 2005.
