Whistler's daughter-in-law, Rosalind Birnie Philip, was his secretary, housekeeper, companion, model to the artist and his wife, and eventually executrix of his estate.

Time and light staining, sheet trimmed on the bottom, hinged on top sheet edge in two places to backmat, rubbing on sheet edges, with pencil inscription of title on bottom sheet recto, a few specks of discoloration on right and left center sheet edges.
