Description
A large French Lalique Domremy, also known as Chardons, Thistles, press moulded opalescent glass vase. The cylindrical shaped body is decorated with thistle and branches all around in a frosted finish. Inscribed, Lalique France, and numbered 979 on the bottom. Circa: 1898. The vase was designed by Rene Lalique in 1926. Rene Lalique, 1860 to 1945, was a French designer, a master of both Art Nouveau and Art Decor, who was best known for his glasswork. His career started in 1885 as a jewellery maker, but from 1911 he predominantly focused on glasswork. According to some sources, Rene Lalique is the best known 20th century maker of moulded, opalescent glass, producing most of his best designs during the 1920s and 1930s.
