**First Time At Auction**
Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, United States or Canada, Haida, ca. mid-20th century CE. A fine hand-built hide and wood drum with a painted orca whale motif. The deer hide is stretched taut over a wooden cedar hoop frame and nailed in place with a pair of leather thong handle straps. The orca or killer whale has multiple stylized eyes across the body painted in black, red, and blue hues. Drum is functional and tight. Size: 12" Diameter x 2" W (30.5 cm x 5.1 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
