Condition
Please Note: Doyle cannot make any statement regarding the working condition of this or any other clock offered in this auction. Accordingly, please assume the clock may not be in good working condition and may require the services of a professional clock repair person
Clock Case: appears to be in generally good condition; gilding now has a dulled appearance, commensurate with age; light shallow nicks to the porcelain face in the winding keyhole areas, not of great consequence; the inscribed address of Guedin & Co. on Broadway is partially worn and rubbed; some wear/rubbing to painted and gilt decoration elsewhere, not of any great consequence; the urn finial is slightly loose and now has a slight lean; the face of the clock is exposed, i.e., there is no protective glass cover (does not appear to have ever had one); the clock has a rear metal door, clock movement and a pendulum; no winding key; the two screws that secure the wreath handles with the porcelain portraits are later replacements; these handles are slightly loose
Urns: each porcelain body and lower porcelain plaque appears to be in generally good condition; one of the metal bud finials appears to be a later and poor quality replacement; the metal handles have cracks/breaks and one side handle is "free floating" because a small section is now missing; there is wear and dulling to the gilding on the metal mounts, commensurate with age; there is a break to one of the metal scrolling acanthus leaves that decorates the foot of one urn
Any condition statement is given as a courtesy to a client, is an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact and Doyle New York shall have no responsibility for any error or omission. Please contact the specialist department to request further information or additional images that may be available.
