Santa Rita de Cascia holds punched tin cross & carved wooden skull.
Born in 1951 in Santa Fe. Juried into Spanish Market in 1981. Received Best of Show/Grand Prizes at 1989 and 1993 Spanish Markets. Lucero's bultos are characterized by strong lines of color, extravagant forms and elaborate gestures. His work contrasts sharply with the simple folk forms so often prevalent in New Mexico. Working in collaboration with his wife Kimberly Lucero creates work that is a finely crafted and finished earning the name "baroque." Source: tfaoi.org.
