American Late Classical Mahogany Center Table

second quarter 19th century, probably by Joseph Meeks & Sons, New York, the serpentine portoro marble top over a conforming figured frieze, raised on scroll legs joined by a scroll stretcher with applied roundels and scroll-carved ends.
h. 31-1/2", w. 37-1/2", d. 23-1/2"

In "as found" condition. The marble top appears to be the original and has been professionally restored. There are rods embedded to the underside for strength. Four of the feet are missing an applied ornamentation and one is partially gone. The table is sturdy and appears to retain an old refinished surface.
