Thai Gilt-Lacquered Bronze Figure of Buddha, Ayutthaya
18th/19th century, bronze-clad over a black clay core, standing with his right hand in abhaya mudra, the left hand at his side, wearing a flaring sanghati secured with a belt, his face with arched eyebrows extending to merge above his nose, his gaze downcast with a serene demeanor, raised on a later ebonized square pedestal.

Condition
In "as found" condition. There are shrinkage cracks to the surface from age, and a separation near the waist at a seam in the bronze. Some flaking and losses to the clad surface as well. Probably missing a flame from atop the Buddha's chignon. Retains a wonderful overall patina.
