A Large Japanese Lacquer Tray with Silver Rim
Meiji period (1868-1912), Japanese lacquer tray with five fans decorated with Japanese motifs of waves under the autumn moon, irises, plum blossoms and gourds, chrysanthemums, and pine and cherry blossoms with rushing waves, all in varied maki-e techniques in gold, silver, red, and black, silver rim with curved edges, underside is black lacquer and has a label reading "Gracie, founded 1898."

Some losses and cracking at side edges, to one side of the tray's interior, and to one side edge of the underside; a square area of fading or wear to central fan; paper label to underside; small felt circles to the underside; some sticker residue to one corner.
