A Group of Three Japanese Lacquer Boxes with Covers
early 20th century, largest box is an amber red document box with an eagle and pine tree on the cover, national symbols popular during the Meiji period, the second box is a matte amber red decorated with peony flowers, and the third a black lacquer rectangular box decorated with a group of autumn flowers and grasses, the underside has a gilt mark of Zohiko studio.

A crack to one corner of largest box, some light nicks to edges of cover and box, one corner of cover has restoration, paper label to underside; medium box with some nicks to edges with minor loss, interior box and cover with mold; black box and cover with one small loss to underside corner of box.
