Description
Russian propaganda leaflet, 2pp. 8vo., calling for the surrender of German forces. The leaflet begins by detailing how the Soviets had beaten the German troops at Silesia, labeling it as the 'equivalent to the disarmament of the German armed forces', also stating the occupation of East Prussia and Pomerania by the Red Army had made 'resistance against the much superior Red Army...futile'. It goes on to quote Joseph Stalin from appearances ranging from 1942-45, speaking on his beliefs for the future of Germany, in part: '...it is talked about that the aim of the Red Army is to exterminate the German people and to destroy the German state. This is of course a stupid lie and a foolish slander...the strength of the Red Army means that it does not and cannot have racial hatred against other peoples, not even against the German people...only Hitler and his Nazi war criminals gang who are threatened with severe punishment, fear the imminent victory of the Red Army. That's why they lie to you...Hitlers come and go, but the German people...remains...' On the bottom half of the verso the leaflet calls for soldiers to give themselves up in groups in order to save their families and homeland. It also declares that the leaflet can be used as a 'passport' for those who give themselves over to the Red Army. An approx. 1/2 in. tear at the bottom that does not intrude, and obvious fading of print on the verso, else fine.
