(1911-2006) American press photographer who covered the Pacific during World War II, captured the iconic photograph of Marines hoisting the flag on Iwo Jima. I.S.P., 6.5 in. x 4.75 in. b/w, a collection of photographs of a solitary Rosenthal from the chest up. Inscribed and signed at the top continuing to the right overlapping some of the pictures. The photograph is lightly creased on the left side, else fine, and displayed in a wooden frame, 8 in. x 6 in. that holds glue remnants on the bottom right. Taped to the back of the frame is an envelope containing the negatives of all the pictures seen in the montage. This lot was bought by the consignor at Rosenthal’s estate sale.
