Description
(1896 - 1974) Soviet Field Marshall, perhaps the greatest general of World War II, he survived crushing poverty and Stalin's purges to command the Russian armies at the monumental battles of Moscow and Kursk, and in the taking of Berlin. Partly printed war-date D.S. in indelible pencil, 1p. 4to., Kiev, Oct. 21, 1940, relieving four officers of their duties in order to receive further training. Binder holes at left margin, else very good.
