Collected Papers, 9 vol., ownership names on titles removed by tip-ex or covered with laid down paper cutting, few other annotations to with upper corners in vols.I-3 & 6 similarly covered by paper, original cloth, spines faded, lightly marked, dust-jackets, spines faded and browned, vol. 1& 2 with light chipping and loss to spine extremities and joints, vol.6 with extensive portion of loss to spine and split, all jackets covered with mylar plastic, though in effect still a good set, 8vo, The Hague, Martinus Nijhoff, 1935.
⁂ Hendrik Antoon Lorentz (1853-1928) was a Dutch physicist who shared the 1902 Nobel Prize in Physics with Pieter Zeeman for the discovery and theoretical explanation of the Zeeman effect. He also derived the Lorentz transformation underpinning Albert Einstein's special theory of relativity, as well as the Lorentz force, which describes the combined electric and magnetic forces acting on a charged particle in an electromagnetic field.
