BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Ludwigsburg, Theodore Feucht lived and worked as a painter in Paris. Theodor Feucht studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts (ABK) in Stuttgart under Friedrich von Keller. Then he completed his studies at the ABK Munich.Between 1894 and 1914 he lived and worked in Paris .At the beginning of the First World War in 1914 he was imprisoned while preparing a solo exhibition in Grenoble (360 pictures were planned) and interned until 1918. Then he returned to Munich. The 360 works were lost, as were the three paintings from the Carnavalet Museum in Paris.All of the drawings were burned in a bomb attack on Munich in 1944.Before his time in Paris, he mainly produced illustrations and portraits for the King of Wurttemberg .In Paris he painted portraits (including two US presidents and industrialists such as Andrew Carnegie ) and landscapes.He described himself as a French open-air painter, not an impressionist, although his pictures are characterized as impressionistic.In Munich he oriented himself on the landscape paintings by Otto Strutzel .He also painted the landscape backgrounds of the soldiers' pictures by Robert von Haug (1857-1922).Theodore Feucht died on February 27, 1944 and found his final resting place in the north cemetery in Munich.In 1985 the estate kept by the widow contained around 360 landscape pictures and a self-portrait. Most of the other paintings are privately owned. His works continue to be traded in the art trade and at auctions.
