Dent, London, number 1434
Surmounted by an octagonal-section handle on foliate scroll supports over a large bevelled glass inspection panel and matching side panels, with moulded cornice and stepped plinth base on brass button feet. The substantial twin chain fusee movement with Harrison's maintaining power to the going train terminating in a frosted gilt platform with monometallic three-arm gilt balance over a jewelled under-slung lever escapement, the striking train sounding on a bell, the signed and numbered backplate with strike/silent lever to the corner with hand-setting knob. Running, repeating and striking. Together with two case keys and a shaped winding key. 25cm (9 1/2in) high

Condition
The case:
Generally excellent; the veneers are rich and well figured, with no fading. All glasses look to be perfect. The handle is good, with no shake, it also retains traces of gilding in the low points. The feet are set on threads to allow for levelling. Both doors have their original working locks, with key that fit.

The dial:
Excellent. There is a good depth to the mask and the engraved details are strong.
The enamel dial is perfect. The hands are well blued and fit well.

The movement:
Running well. It strikes and repeats as it should. The speed of the strike itself is measured and sounds on a large bell with a clean and crisp tone. The movement is clean.

Together with a winding key and two case keys.
