Condition
Frame: 38 3/8 x 61 inches. With three large patches and three smaller patches to the back of the canvas, which is further stamped 35 and PROPERTY OF A.J. SORDONI. In overall fair condition. With patterns of craquelure throughout. Having some flaking loss to paint along the bottom edge and a puncture in the canvas beneath the center of the boat. The image exhibiting differing thicknesses to paint layer and some evident retouch. Examination under UV light shows an uneven, rather thick layer of varnish over the image, with few patches in the sky showing drips. Evidence of retouch to the figures and and areas of restoration that have been patched to verso. The canvas is loosely stretched and exhibits vertical stretcher marks to the center of the image.
