END OF DAY, Paneled Onionskin. Smithsonian Magazine Marble. Four-Panel Lobed Onionskin with Mica. Clear base. Core is four panels. Two are pink on white, two are pink on yellow. Some blue splotches. Four very deep lobes in the marble, perfectly set in the panels. Some mica on the core. Stunning. Marble surface has been polished. Germany, circa 1860-1920. A rare opportunity to own one a marble shown on perhaps the most iconic marble image of all time, the April 1988 cover of Smithsonian Magazine, which has been seen by hundreds of thousands of marble collectors and non-marble collectors. The marble comes with an issue of the the April 1988 Smithsonian Magazine. Provenance: This marble was pictured on the cover of the April 1988 edition of Smithsonian Magazine. The marbles pictured on the cover were from the collection of Bert Cohen. Subsequently, the marbles passed to his son, Arnold Cohen. The consignor aquired this marble from Arnold Cohen. 2-3/16".
