Description
Founder of British sports science.- Abrahams (Harold M. and Dr. Adolphe) Training for Athletes, first edition, plates, light spotting to fore-edge, light browning to endpapers, original cloth, light sunning to spine, dust-jacket, light browning to spine, minor chipping to spine ends and corners, but a bright, near-fine example overall, 8vo, 1928.
⁂ A superb example of this scarce book, we can trace no other copy in the dust-jacket. Abrahams (whose exploits are famously recounted in the film The Chariots of Fire) won the 100m at the 1924 Olympics. Adolphe was medical officer for the British Olympic team from 1912 to 1948 and is now regarded as the founder of British sports science.
