Description
Ceremonial Ancestral Cloth "Tatibin", Sumatra, Indonesia, Early-Mid 20th C. Rectangular hanging, tatibin or 'ship cloth', made in supplementary weft patterning with cotton and metal-wrapped yarns on tabby cotton. Like the square 'tampan', these ritual cloths were made along the southeastern coast of Sumatra. Size: 3'2'' x 1'2'' (97 x 36 cm). Provenance: Ex. Roger Hollander collection.
